Brown Sugar by Solar
- Product relates to Indian culture

Since I am a professional baker, I keep experimenting with many products, replace the more expensive ones with cheaper substitutes etc. I read somewhere that brown sugar could be replaced with demarara sugar, which is less than half the price of brown sugar. I would say it has worked only for some of the cakes.. but I still want BROWN SUGAR in my Butterscotch Sauce and Butterscotch Cake to get that authentic flavor! I have found Solar to be...more

Wow i Wished so badly to write about this restaurant which has been The Bestest since ages, since when i was too young. I treat this Restaurant as the NUMBER ONE Restaurant in Jaipur.

Because the food which it serves is Absolutely ONE AND ONLY IN The Whole World. This is a very very old Restaurant which has been managed by over 4 generations of family members. My Grandfather used to come here with his business partners when he was...more

I went to his place in Gurgaon at first, and was glad to see that it recently opened in Jaipur too.

I loved this place because it was an easy go, easy dine place unlike other restaurants where you have to formally order and wait and wait and wait.

And also this place is not like a cheap fast food joint. It is a very decent, very clean, brightly lit up place which serves great quality veg and non-veg special meals, including...more

Cocoa Powder by Cadbury's

I started baking cakes professionally about 2-1/2 yrs ago. A 200 gms tin of Cadbury's Cocoa Powder used to cost Rs. 90 at that time. Today it is Rs. 200. Unfortunately, the product quality has declined despite the ridiculous increase in the price. I sift the flour with the cocoa powder for my cakes, and am always left with 2-3 tsps of cocoa powder grains (for every 1/2 a cup of cocoa). I am unable to crush/ mash them using the back of a...more

Fresh Cream by Amul

Who said whipping cream can't have a shelf-life??? I love the fact that I can buy a few packs of Amul Cream and store them and not have to worry about the cream going bad! I like using it in my desserts - Tres Leches, Fruit Cream, Ice Creams etc, and main course - palak paneer, daal makhani etc. I wouldn't use it for frosting my cakes though, since it tends to melt at high temperatures (Indian summers in the North are pretty bad.......more

Baking Powder by Weikfield
- Product relates to Indian culture

I've been baking cakes all my life and recently have realized that some ingredient in Weikfield baking powder makes the cake sink. Although this is what I use in my cakes, I use a lesser quantity than the recipe calls for. For instance, I might use 3/4th tsp in a cake asking for 1 tsp.

This new product by Maggi is fantabulous. I prepared mixed vegetable curry using potato, onion, tomato ,ladies finger, brinjal, cauliflower and just added masala ae magic & salt & it turned out better then what is even served at some restaurants. I use this pack to make my maggi noodles spicier and also my vegetables now. This spice has similar aroma like the maggi Masala but its a tad Spicier and my family loves the dishes i prepare...more
